Lockout/Tagout Requirements

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has mandated that all energy sources be turned off and locked out to protect employees from injuries caused by the accidental startup of equipment under repair or service. This is outlined in OSHA standard 29CFR 1910.147.

OSHA's Lockout/Tagout Standard was developed to prevent the needless deaths and injuries caused by the misapplication of hazardous energy.
